Dawiso is designed as an AI ecosystem enabler, providing the trusted metadata and knowledge foundation required for organizations to successfully adopt and scale artificial intelligence.

A strong AI strategy depends on the availability, accuracy, and contextualization of enterprise knowledge. For this reason, Dawiso ensures that your company’s metadata is AI-ready. Structured, governed, and easily accessible data can be immediately used to train, inform, and support AI applications across the business.

AI adoption enablement

Through Dawiso, organizations can:

  • Provide enterprise knowledge to AI: Supply AI models with verified, governed data and metadata that represent your organization’s real business context.
  • Govern knowledge assets: Maintain high-quality, traceable metadata that ensures responsible AI use and compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Integrate AI natively through MCP: Connect large language models (LLMs) and AI agents directly to Dawiso for contextual lookups and actions.

Utilization of AI in Dawiso

By combining metadata management with AI capabilities, Dawiso provides a practical foundation for using artificial intelligence in data management. It allows organizations to make metadata usable for AI applications, supply models with relevant context, and support collaboration between business and technical teams while maintaining control and compliance.

Dawiso uses AI to:

  • Generate and refine content based on contextual metadata.
  • Identify relationships and patterns across data sources.
  • Classify and organize information into logical domains.
  • Interpret natural-language queries to deliver relevant insights.
  • Integrate governed metadata into external AI tools and agents.

Together, these capabilities make Dawiso an adaptable platform that applies AI to both human-facing and system-level tasks, ensuring that metadata remains consistent, discoverable, and ready for enterprise AI use.

Integration with AI Models (LLMs)

Dawiso integrates with large language models (LLMs) to power its AI-assisted features, such as content generation, summarization, and intelligent search. diagram

Supported models

Dawiso currently integrates with the OpenAI API, available either through OpenAI or Azure OpenAI Service. These models provide natural language understanding and generation capabilities used across Dawiso applications.

External LLM configuration

To enable AI features in enterprise environments, Dawiso follows a Bring Your Own LLM model. Each organization connects its own LLM API account, ensuring that data remains under customer control and that all usage complies with internal security, governance, and cost-management policies.

External Integrations

Beyond internal AI capabilities, Dawiso can integrate with external tools and communication platforms.

  • Dawisobot for Slack allows users to ask questions about information managed in Dawiso directly from their workspace. Support for Microsoft Teams is planned for future releases.
  • Dawiso also supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which enables AI and LLM-based tools to interact with Dawiso for contextual lookups and automation tasks.

AI functionalities in Dawiso

This section provides an overview of all current AI-powered features and tools available in Dawiso, organized by their purpose and user benefit.

  1. AI for Content Creation and Editing
  2. AI for Metadata Discovery and Structuring
  3. AI for Integration, Interaction, and Automation

1. AI for content creation and editing

Help Me Write

Dawiso’s text editor includes the Help Me Write assistant, which is an AI writer that helps you create, improve, or refine text directly within object descriptions, documentation, and glossary entries.

You can use it to:

  • Generate new content from short prompts
  • Revise and rephrase existing content
  • Summarize or expand text
  • Translate content into other languages

For more information, see WYSIWYG HTML editor.

AI-generated summary

The AI Summary feature uses LLM to create concise summaries based on the information available on the object page.

It analyzes the object’s description, metadata, and related attributes to produce a context-aware overview that highlights the key details of the object. Summaries can be generated automatically and later adjusted or replaced by the user.

The feature can also be toggled off at any time if a manually written summary is preferred.

AI-generated descriptions

Dawiso can automatically generate descriptions for objects during metadata ingestion, providing an initial draft that serves as a reliable starting point for documentation.

When enabled, Dawiso uses custom predefined prompts to create descriptions tailored to each object type. Each attribute type can have its own configurable prompt, allowing organizations to customize how descriptions are generated across different data sources.

AI-generated descriptions are clearly marked with a banner until they are reviewed and saved by the user, ensuring transparency and control. This functionality is available across all standard scanners, for database, schema, view, and table levels.

2. AI for metadata discovery and structuring

AI Dictionary

The AI Dictionary app uses AI to analyze data structures and automatically identify business domains and their related attribute domains.

By recognizing patterns and recurring elements across data sources, it helps organize technical metadata into meaningful business areas. For example, the AI Dictionary can group attributes that represent similar business concepts into a shared domain, giving users a clear overview of how key data elements are used throughout the organization.

This application helps users quickly understand data relationships, detect inconsistencies, and assess whether terminology and attributes are aligned across systems, supporting harmonization efforts and improving data quality.

3. AI for integration, interaction, and automation

Dawiso Ask

Dawiso Ask introduces conversational AI to help users access information managed within Dawiso through natural-language interaction.

It allows users to ask questions in plain language and receive contextually accurate answers based on metadata and documentation stored in the platform. This helps users find relevant information even when starting from a general idea rather than a specific query.

Currently, Dawiso Ask is available as Dawisobot in the Dawiso Slack channel (join our Dawiso Forum using this link). Future versions will include Microsoft Teams as well as in-app integration, enabling users to interact with Dawiso Ask directly within the platform interface.

Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Dawiso supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows external AI tools and LLM agents to access and use information from Dawiso in a standardized way.

Through MCP, connected tools can retrieve governed metadata as contextual input, perform lookups, or trigger defined actions within Dawiso. This enables AI assistants to work directly with trusted metadata and perform tasks using the same governed knowledge available to Dawiso users.

For more information, see Dawiso Model Context Protocol (MCP).
