Dawiso supports two different connection types for metadata integration: shared and private.
Shared
Shared connection is a connection that is fully managed in Dawiso. The following main actions happen:
- Dawiso is provided with all settings and credentials necessary to connect to the metadata source.
- Dawiso then automatically ingests data into your specified space. Ingestion is done using a cloud-based ingestion service connected to the source via the public internet.
Private
Private connection type is suitable in two scenarios:
- Credentials can’t be shared with Dawiso because of various security concerns and policies.
- Connection to the metadata source can’t be established from the public internet (e.g., the source is behind a firewall in an on-premises environment).
To establish a private connection, the following steps will be needed:
- Download Dawiso Integration Runtime (DIR) and install it in a local environment that has access to your metadata source.
- Run the DIR manually.
- DIR will connect to the restricted source, extract all relevant metadata, and send it to Dawiso’s cloud service for processing.
Your metadata will have the exact same structure and content like it would from the shared connection.
Configure connection type
Connection type is configured in the first step of Connection creation. Simply select your provider and the connection type.
