To capture all available metadata, Dawiso integrates with a variety of systems. For this purpose, we offer ready-to-use metadata scanners with ingestion engines.

In this article, you can find detailed information on different sections of Dawiso’s data ingestion settings.

Tip

We are continuously expanding our metadata apps portfolio to meet customer demands, focusing on supporting the leading data platforms currently in use. Our agile development process allows us to prototype scanners within days and release them swiftly. By collaborating closely with our customers, we ensure timely delivery of scanners, aligning our development schedule with our customers’ specific needs.

For a list of available integrations, refer to Metadata apps.

Connections

On the Connections page, you can manage your integrations. Navigate to Settings inline-svg-1Data Ingestion > Connections.

Here, you can:

  • Create new connections
  • Edit connections (e.g., update credentials)
  • Delete connections

See Applications for application-specific step-by-step guides.

Connection types

Dawiso supports two different connection types for metadata integration: shared and private.

Connection typeDescription
Shared connectionA connection that is fully managed in Dawiso. In other words, Dawiso is provided with credentials and automatically ingests metadata.
Private connectionSuitable for use cases when credentials can’t be shared or connection to the source can’t be established from the public internet (e.g., due to security concerns or the source is behind a firewall in an on-premises environment). To establish a private connection, Dawiso Integration Runtime (DIR) is used.

For more information, see Connection types.

Data sources

On the Data sources page, manage your sources. Navigate to Settings inline-svg-2 > Data Ingestion > Data sources.

Create a new data source

To create a new data source in Dawiso, continue with these steps:

  1. Click New data source in the top-right corner and expand the dropdown next to your service to select your connected account.
  2. Name your data source (and add a description e.g., purpose of the database) for easier identification in Dawiso.
  3. Input the database name(s) you want to scan.
  4. Select your destination (e.g. the ‘Sales‘ space) where you want to load your data, and workflow type.
  5. Click the play button and confirm to ingest your data.
Warning

The destination cannot be changed for an existing data source. Instead, you can clone the data source to select a different space.

Other

On the Data sources page, you can also:

  • Edit a data source to change its name in Dawiso or update if credentials change.
  • Delete a data source.

Ingestions

On the Ingestions page, you will see a list of all data ingestion operations that took place in Dawiso.

Click on the ingestion ID number for more details, such as confirming if everything was ingested properly.
