Dawiso’s modular architecture combines components and features to create a flexible, customizable platform for data governance and collaboration. This section explores the elements that enable you to tailor Dawiso to your organization’s specific needs.

Tip

Think of components as the “what” and features as the “how” of Dawiso’s functionality.

Components define what information is displayed on an object, while features determine how users interact with, find, and collaborate around that information across the entire platform.

Explore detailed documentation on individual components and features to understand how to leverage them effectively in your Dawiso environment.

Components

Components are the structural elements that make up each object in Dawiso. They are modular sections that can be toggled on or off, allowing you to customize what information is displayed and how users interact with data. From basic descriptions to complex relational diagrams, components provide the framework through which data is structured and visualized.

Tip

Components in Dawiso host a variety of data and functionalities, from basic descriptions to complex relational data.

Types of Components

Dawiso includes several key components that can be integrated into any object. Here is a brief overview of some common types:

ComponentDescription
ActivitiesAllows users to comment on and track changes to an object, ensuring that all modifications are logged and transparent.
API cardsDisplays a card view of list of apps, spaces, or objects for quick and easy navigation. Available for dashboards.
API tables (tables of objects)Displays a list of nested objects, helping users understand the structure and hierarchy within a space, app, or parent object.
Diagram: Data lineageVisualizes the flow of data throughout an organization, helping users understand how information is processed and interconnected across different systems.
Diagram: RelationsVisualizes the relationships between objects, indicating how they are connected and interact with one another.
Object headerContains basic information about the object such as name, path. Here, you can also find the following components:
  • Like and dislike: Allows you and your team members to express an opinion on an object and provide quick feedback.
  • Favorite: Allows you to add object to your list of favorites for quick access on dashboards.
  • Fullness score: Provides visual indication of how complete the information for an object is for ensuring data quality and completeness.
  • Watch: Allows you to be notified when changes are made to a certain object. For more information, see Objects.
Right panel cards with propertiesOn the right panel, you can find different types of cards, such as
  • Ownership: Assigns data owners and data stewards to an object to clarify responsibilities and maintaining accountability within projects.
  • Properties: Assigns code lists to an object, such as area, label, and more, to promote standardization of data entries across the platform.
  • Details: Displays scanned metadata attributes. Metadata attributes cannot be modified to ensure reliable and constant reference for data.
  • Other: Cards with a list of synonyms, graphs, etc.
User set relationsAllows users to define and manage how terms relate to each other beyond automatic linking. Specific to business glossary terms.
WYSIWYG HTML editorAllows users to input and format text, with the text being saved as attributes for the object.
Word cloudVisually represents text data used on a dashboard, highlighting frequently used words in a dynamic, cloud-like format. Available for dashboards.

Flexibility and customization

Dawiso emphasises flexibility that adapts to diverse business needs, which is why components can be disabled

Tip

Your Dawiso environment is fully customizable, which includes both object pages and dashboards (homepages). For more information, refer to Packages Documentation.

Features

Features are platform-wide capabilities that enhance collaboration, navigation, and data discovery across Dawiso. These include dashboards, search functionality, notifications, and integrations that work across all your spaces and applications.

FeatureDescription
DashboardsA customizable interface with an overview of metrics and key data at a glance.
Notifications and collaborationCollaboration enhancement with features such as liking objects or marking them as favorite, and notifications configuration (object watch functionality).
SearchLevels of search capabilities that enable users to quickly find and access the data they need.
VersioningA history of all changes made to an object, allowing users to revert to previous versions if necessary.
