Attributes define the characteristics of a specific object and provide essential information about it. They act as descriptive elements that help users understand and work with the object. The specific attributes available can vary depending on the app and its configuration.
In Dawiso, attributes are categorized into two types:
- User-generated attributes: Created and managed manually by users to add custom details.
- Scanned attributes: Automatically retrieved from metadata sources during the data ingestion process.
User-generated attributes
These are attributes that users can manually add and edit to provide custom details or additional information about an object.
- Example: calculations, descriptions
For more information on how to create these, see the article on WYSIWYG HTML editor.
Scanned attributes
These attributes are specific to objects in metadata apps and are automatically retrieved during data ingestion. They cannot be edited by users.
- Example: IDs, data types.
For more information, refer to the articles on metadata apps.
Embedded attribute value
You can embed the value of an attribute as synced blocks in text editors.
- In your text editor, press slash ( / ) and select Attribute Value.
- Select your object and choose which of the embeddable values you want to insert.
- The embed will be clearly marked and when clicked on, it will lead to the source object. As the embeds are synchronized, any changes to the original will immediately reflect in the embeds as well.
Example Embed:
- Download the full example Recipe Manager application package here: Recipe Manager (Tutorial App).json
If your source object is in a private space or subspace, the embed will still be linked to the object but will show an inaccessible space.
