The text editor component allows users to create and edit content, offering a “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG) interface that mirrors the final product’s appearance. Let’s delve into the functionalities and features of this component.

This component is available for the following attributes: definition, description, summary, calculation.

Edit text

To enter the text editing mode, simply click on text field.

In the editing mode, you will gain access to a toolbar positioned at the top of the editor. Each icon represents one functionality, for more information on each functionality, hover over the icon.

Tip

Enter the fullscreen mode to maximize the editor’s workspace. Simply click the Fullscreen inline-svg-1 icon on the right side of the toolbar.

HTML editor

For advanced users familiar with HTML, you can enter the HTML text editor directly to leverage HTML markup for more intricate formatting and customization.

Click the source code inline-svg-2 icon (right side of the toolbar’s last row) to open the HTML editor.

The text editor allows you to:

  • Format text
  • Create tables
  • Embed hyperlinks, images, and multimedia
  • Embed other attribute values
  • Add attachments
  • Generate in-text table of contents
  • Add code snippets
  • Insert diagrams
  • Leverage AI writer

In-text table of content

If you use different level headings in your text, you can generate a table of content (TOC) with hyperlinks linking to your sections. Click the Table of contents inline-svg-3 icon to insert an automatically generated TOC.

You can edit the TOC name in the editor, or hyperlinks in the source code (click the source code inline-svg-4 icon on the right of the toolbar’s last row).

Code snippets

Include code snippets and scripts in your text. The syntax will be highlighted based on the language that you select.

  1. Click the Insert/edit code sample inline-svg-5 icon.
  2. Select your language.
  3. Insert your code.
Tip

To edit an existing code, simply click the code field and click the Insert/edit code sample inline-svg-6 icon again.

Diagrams in text editor

In addition to standard editing features, Dawiso allows users to create custom diagrams. Click the Insert diagram icon to open a diagram creator. You can use this tool for:

  • Flowcharts and process mapping: Illustrate workflows, decision trees, and project timelines to streamline processes.
  • Organizational charts: Visualize hierarchical structures and reporting relationships within businesses.
  • Mind mapping and brainstorming: Facilitate creativity and problem-solving by visually organizing ideas and concepts.
  • Network diagrams: Plan, troubleshoot, and optimize IT infrastructure and network connections.
  • UML diagrams: Aid software design, architecture, and documentation through various Unified Modeling Language diagrams.
  • Inserting mathematical formulas: Include mathematical equations and formulas directly into documents for academic, technical, or scientific purposes.

The Dawiso text editor allows you to make use of an AI writer, a powerful tool that leverages artificial intelligence to generate written content automatically.

Click the Dawiso AI icon for:

  • Text editing and revision
  • Content summarization
  • Content expansion (generate additional paragraphs, sections, or insights to enrich the content)
  • Translation
  • Content ideation based on specified keywords or themes

Add images

Images can be added using the following methods:

  • Use the Insert Image button to select and insert one or more files from your local folders
  • Drag-and-drop images from your local folders
  • Copy paste an image from browser
Tip

Once you save your changes, you can zoom in on any image by simply clicking on it. The image opens in full resolution in the same window.

Add links to other objects or its heading by:

  • Copy pasting a link directly into the editor
  • Using the / shortcut and select Object link
  • Insert/edit link inline-svg-7 button (using this button you can also edit links inserted using the previous methods)

Inserting an object link (or a link to its sections) will automatically create a new relation between the two objects. When an object is being deleted, it will show all its related objects to prevent broken links.
