The Business Glossary application ships with a metamodel but no content, so a new installation starts empty. A starter glossary is a package that installs a set of business domains, terms, and synonyms into its own space in the Business Glossary application.

Tip

See Install a starter glossary for prerequisites and installation steps.

Available starter glossaries

Starter glossaries belong to the Starter content category in the Marketplace. The full catalog includes industry and FIBO (Financial Industry Business Ontology) glossaries, and a sample ECB (European Central Bank) glossary.

FIBO

The seven FIBO packages cover different domains within the ontology. Each module stands on its own and can be installed without the others. Terms are grouped into business domains; abbreviations and alternative names install as synonyms nested under the term they refer to.

ECB

A sample rather than an industry model: it reproduces the complete public glossary of the European Central Bank, 1119 entries across six subject categories. Terms whose definition only points at another entry install as synonyms of that entry.

Use it to see a large, real glossary before modeling your own. Names and definitions are reproduced verbatim from the ECB glossary, (c) European Central Bank.

Prerequisites

If a prerequisite is missing, Dawiso lists the whole chain in a confirmation dialog. Confirm once to install everything.

Install the package

  1. Go to Settings > Packages > Marketplace.
  2. Select the Starter content category.
  3. Open the starter glossary you want and click Install.
Warning

A starter glossary installs its content only when its own space holds no Business Glossary objects yet. If the space already has content, the package installs but its content seeding is skipped, shown on the package detail as Data seeding skipped with the space, application, and object count found. Once you’ve changed installed content, a later package version won’t overwrite it.

Check installed packages’ seeding status any time in Settings > Packages > Data packages, which lists every data package with its target application and object count.

Installation scope

Each starter glossary creates its own space and installs its objects only there. The installation never touches spaces you already use, and two starter glossaries never share a space.

After installation, the objects are ordinary Business Glossary objects: rename them, edit definitions, add attributes, delete what you don’t need, and link them to your reports, tables, and columns.
