Watching a data source keeps you informed about its ingestions without opening the ingestion list. When an ingestion run for a watched data source ends in a failure state, Dawiso notifies everyone who watches that data source.
Only admin users can watch a data source.
Start or stop watching a data source
Every data source in the list has a Watched column, placed directly before the three dots actions menu.
- Navigate to Settings > Data Ingestion > Data sources.
- Find the data source in the list.
- In the Watched column, click the eye icon.
A blue filled eye marks a data source you watch; a gray outlined eye marks one you do not. The tooltip on the icon reads Add to watched or Remove from watched, depending on the current state.
The same toggle is available on the page of an individual data source, in the page header, where it appears as a labeled button.
The user who creates a data source starts watching it automatically. Data sources that already existed have no watchers until someone adds them.
Get notified when an ingestion fails
An ingestion run that enters a failure state triggers two notifications for each user watching the data source:
- An email.
- An entry in the notification bell, under the Watching tab. For details on the notification window, see Notifications.
Both notifications contain:
| Information | Description |
|---|---|
| Data source | Name of the data source, linked to the failed ingestion run. |
| State | Failure state the ingestion ended in. |
| Started | When the ingestion run started. |
| Finished | When the ingestion run finished. |
For the full list of states an ingestion can reach, see Ingestions overview.
Only failures generate a notification. A canceled ingestion run does not. When the same run reports a failure repeatedly, Dawiso sends one notification, on the first transition into the failure state.
